General
Bugolobi Medical Centre is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — including weekends and all public holidays. Our emergency department, pharmacy and nursing staff are always on duty.
We are located at Plot 134/136 Spring Road, Bugolobi, Kampala, Uganda. We are easily accessible from Nakawa, Ntinda and the city centre. Free parking is available on site.
Walk-ins are welcome at any time — you do not need an appointment for the emergency department, laboratory, pharmacy or vaccination clinic. For specialist consultations we recommend booking in advance to minimise your waiting time.
Yes — free parking is available for all patients and visitors at our Spring Road premises.
BMC is a private multi-specialty facility with 30 inpatient beds. We offer general outpatient consultations as well as specialist clinics in OB/GYN, paediatrics, orthopaedics, internal medicine and ENT, supported by a fully equipped laboratory, imaging suite and operating theatre.
Appointments & Booking
You can book by calling us on +256 414 222354, sending a WhatsApp message to the same number, using the online Booking Wizard on our homepage, or emailing info@bugolobimedical.com. Same-day and next-day slots are usually available.
Yes — walk-ins are always welcome. For emergency care, the laboratory, pharmacy and the Friday vaccination clinic no booking is required. For scheduled specialist consultations, a booking helps us minimise your wait.
Please call or WhatsApp +256 414 222354 at least two hours before your scheduled time and our team will rearrange at no charge.
A standard general consultation is approximately 20–30 minutes. Specialist consultations may run 30–45 minutes. Complex or new-patient appointments may take longer — your booking confirmation will indicate the estimated duration.
Yes — you are welcome to book on behalf of a family member or dependent. Please have their name, date of birth, contact number and insurance details (if applicable) ready when you call.
Insurance & Payments
We accept AAR Uganda, Jubilee Insurance, CIC Insurance, Resolution Health, IAA Uganda, Prudential Uganda, AON Africa and Britam Uganda. We support cashless processing with full pre-authorisation for all these providers.
Bring your valid insurance card when you arrive. Our billing team will contact your insurer directly to obtain pre-authorisation. Once approved you receive treatment without making any upfront payment — we settle directly with your insurer.
We accept cash (UGX and USD), mobile money (MTN MoMo and Airtel Money) and major debit and credit cards.
Yes — itemised receipts and clinical reports are available on request from our billing office, usually within one business day.
Yes — we will never turn away a patient in need of care. You may be asked to pay a deposit and we will assist you in pursuing reimbursement from your insurer after the fact.
Laboratory & Results
Most routine tests — including full blood counts, malaria, HIV, blood glucose, liver and kidney function — are available the same day, often within 2–4 hours. Culture and sensitivity tests typically take 2–5 days. Histopathology (tissue biopsy) results take 5–10 working days.
Results can be collected in person from the laboratory reception. For patients who have provided an email address, we can send a secure PDF copy. Your referring doctor will also receive a copy directly.
Fasting (nothing to eat or drink except plain water for 8–12 hours) is required for blood glucose, HbA1c, lipid profile and some hormone tests. Your doctor will advise you if fasting is needed. For most other tests fasting is not required.
Yes — we retain laboratory records and can provide copies on request. Please bring a valid ID and, where applicable, a letter of consent from the patient.
Yes — we offer accredited DNA paternity testing in partnership with easyDNA UK. The process is confidential and results are legally recognised. Please call or visit to discuss the procedure and pricing.
Maternity & ANC
Yes — we offer comprehensive antenatal packages covering all recommended visits, ultrasound scans, blood tests, blood pressure monitoring and birth-preparedness counselling. Our OB/GYN specialists Dr. Charles Engenye and Dr. Kirunda Zethan lead our maternity services.
Yes — we have private labour and delivery suites offering a calm, personalised environment. A birth companion of your choice is welcome to be present. Our midwifery team provides 24-hour support before, during and after delivery.
Yes — our operating theatre is fully equipped for both planned and emergency C-sections. All procedures are performed by our specialist OB/GYN team with anaesthetic support available around the clock.
We provide postnatal ward care for mother and baby, newborn screening, breastfeeding support, and follow-up consultations. Our paediatrician Dr. Kisitu Willy is available for neonatal assessments.
Emergency Care
Yes — our emergency department is staffed and operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For life-threatening emergencies, call +256 414 222354 immediately so our team can prepare for your arrival.
We treat all urgent presentations including chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe injuries, high fever, unconsciousness, severe abdominal pain, obstetric emergencies, and any condition you believe requires immediate attention. When in doubt — come in.
Bring a national ID or passport, your insurance card (if applicable), any current medication or a list of what you take, and — if possible — details of any previous relevant medical history. In a true emergency, come first and bring documents later.
We do not currently operate our own ambulance. For urgent transfer please call +256 414 222354 and our team will advise on the fastest route to our facility and coordinate with available transport.
